McKissack & McKissack maximized economic resource allocations in an efficient, three-month summer renovation program for the K-12 school district in Compton, California, using Compton Unified’s limited funds.
McKissack oversaw all construction phases for this Hispanic and Black majority K-12 district, starting pre-construction with project coordination, implementation of procedures, value engineering, constructability reviews at design development and construction, developing a management control system, organizing planning workshops and meetings and estimating costs. The project scope encompassed pre-procurement, procurement, construction and project completion, which includes delivery of final documents and the implementation of both warranty inspection and warranty work procedures for all contractors. McKissack worked with the Office of Public School Construction, under the Uniform Building Code and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, and with the Division of the State Architect.
